We're delighted to announce the appointment of Catherine Costley and Joshua Moger as Partners in our Family Law team. This takes the Family Law team to four partners, and more widely the total number of partners covering Private Wealth to 12.
Catherine and Joshua have nearly three decades of combined family law experience advising high-net-worth and ultra-high-net worth clients on all aspects of divorce, children and financial remedies law. They both are well known and respected in the family law world and, having been involved in a number of the country’s leading family law cases, they are recognised in the legal directories as being part of the ‘Next Generation’ of leading family law Partners.
Catherine and Joshua advise on contentious and non-contentious matters. They have a very broad range of clients, encompassing, amongst others, home makers, bread winners, mothers, fathers, entrepreneurs, celebrities, city professionals, private equity partners, bankers, trustees and art collectors.
They also have specialist experience in pre, mid and post-nuptial agreements, children contact disputes, international child abduction (including under the Hague Convention), and financial claims for unmarried and cohabiting couples. Their clients are both domestic and international, and their advice often involves onshore and offshore trust structures, complex corporate structures and dynastic estate planning.
While Catherine and Joshua join the Family Law team, their drive to provide a holistic ‘wrap around’ service for clients means they will work closely with and leverage the value for clients of Fladgate’s impressive Private Wealth team.
Catherine Costley commenting on her appointment: "I am thrilled to embark on this new chapter, joining a firm with such an esteemed reputation for advising both individuals and families in domestic and international arenas. Fladgate has taken the time to get to know it's clients and understands the advice and support they need. My family law experience and knowledge will be wonderfully complemented by the firm's broader Private Wealth and Dispute Resolution offerings. I am eager to contribute to the firm's legacy of excellence and provide clients with comprehensive, high-quality legal counsel that addresses their unique needs across the spectrum of private family law and wealth management."
Joshua Moger also commented on his appointment: "Fladgate and I have a shared focus on the needs of the client, which stretches far beyond simply providing family law advice. Fladgate’s offering of providing a holistic ‘wrap around’ Private Wealth service to clients made the firm an obvious and brilliant home for me and my clients. Catherine and I are hugely excited to expand and enhance the Family Law team at Fladgate further, building upon the firm's already excellent reputation in this field. I look forward to contributing to the continued success and growth of the firm, delivering exceptional service to our clients and solidifying our position as leaders in Family Law, Private Wealth and Dispute Resolution."
John Evans, Head of Dispute Resolution at Fladgate, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Catherine and Joshua to our team. Family Law is a key component of our Dispute Resolution and Private Wealth growth strategies, and their extensive experience will undoubtedly enhance and deepen our existing expertise. With their proven track record in handling complex family and financial matters across key international jurisdictions, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience that aligns seamlessly with our firm's current client base.”
Grant Gordon, Managing Partner at Fladgate, commented: “We are very pleased that Catherine and Joshua have chosen to join Fladgate at this exciting time in our growth trajectory. Their appointment demonstrates our steadfast commitment to growing both our Dispute Resolution and Private Wealth offerings, an important area for the firm and our clients, to complement our existing market leading Corporate, Real Estate and Finance practices.
“Furthermore, the six lateral Partner hires we have announced over the past eight months underline our progress and commitment to delivering the firm’s ambitious growth strategy serving our growing client base ranging from innovative and sector-leading UK and international businesses and funds through to entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals and family offices.”
Catherine and Joshua follow the recent appointment of Simon Goldring as a Partner in its Dispute Resolution practice and Georgia Quenby as a Partner in its Funds, Finance and Regulatory practice. This is in addition to the hires of M&A Partner Tessa Trevelyan Thomas and Tech law Partner Nathan Evans in April this year.
